MNPC JAIF 2014 - Message 16

Fair Goers:
  1. I am happy to report we remain ahead of St. Thomas on resumes posted on the fair site….we have 116 they have 89 – we have 215 registered for fair – so if we all get resumes posted we can stay ahead for awhile longer!
  2. As I look at the calendar….I really only have about 7 days left to help you all get ready for fair!  (Because I do have other commitments besides fair!)  With that in mind….I have scheduled 2 things for next week:
    1. Tuesday at 3:30 in Center for Servant Leadership: Talking to Employers at Fair – this is how to prepare what to say when you walk up to employers at the fair, what to expect they will ask etc.
    2. Friday at 2:30 in Center for Servant Leadership: Review the Fair Employer List – this is time to go over the employer list to help you focus on which employers to talk with at fair
  3. My calendar is very full from now until fair, so I will NOT be able to see you all one-by-one, BUT the good news is – others in the Center for Servant Leadership can also assist you!   The thing to do is to call the Center at 507-933-7272 and say you are looking for help with fair.  You can be scheduled with any of the staff in the Center who are prepared to assist you with fair.
  4. Fair Prep Party is next Wednesday – one week!  Thank you to the 39 of you who have said you plan to attend.  Only those coming to the Prep Party will be able to have mock interviews – so…..please email to career@gustavus.edu – subject line Prep Party to let us know if you are attending.  This is a great time to wear your fair clothes, practice introducing yourself, and practice interviewing.  In the past students have gotten interviews from contacts at the Prep Party!
  5. Wednesday next week is a big day!  In addition to the Prep Party there are employer presentations.
4:00: Katherine Brabbit – a Gustavus alum – will be in Linner Lounge making a presentation about her employer Unified Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI).  Below is the info….it is a great corporate training program!
5:00 Target Retail and Financial Services (corporate positions) will be in the St. Peter Room with info on their opportunities.  This is HUGE as it the first time in many years that part of Target corporate has been on campus.  A great turn out for this would be very good!

More Soon!  Cynthia
